Frostburg State University ASTAR
 
 
 
ASTAR is a statewide AmeriCorps program, which engages members in full time, part time (with stipend) and quarter/minimum time (education only) AmeriCorps members in service opportunities focusing on Capacity Building. ASTAR partners with higher education institutions including: Frostburg State University, Hood College and programs within the Univeristy System of Maryland at Hagerstown. Additional statewide parterns include but are not limited to: Special Olympics Maryland, Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, SciTech2U, Frederick County Department Health and Human Services, Evergreen Heritage Center, Veterans Services, AACF/Life and Discovery and more. ASTAR members serve within their selected site and receive on site training and the opportunity to travel to in state trainings. Members become a part of a regional team - building capacity and identifying issues and being instrumental in implementing a solution to these issues. Members develop individually as well and with the team during their year of service. Members position types and requirements vary.

Member Duties : Members serve directly with the selected service site focusing on a capacity buiding performance measure designed to help partnering agencies increase effectiveness, efficiency and/or scope of programming. Members positions and slot types vary as do the age and educational requirements.
