25-26 Kitsap CD Community Food System Specialist

This is an AmeriCorps national service position contingent on funding and open until filled. Kitsap Conservation District's GRACE Garden Project serves food insecure children, families, and seniors. Our programs include Farm to Food Pantry, Farm to Freezer, and Farm to Community. These programs are part of the hunger relief system in Kitsap County. Our primary focus is increasing access to fresh, culturally appropriate, healthy fruits and vegetables. Our customers face many barriers to accessing healthy food choices. Food insecurity can limit people to cheap, calorie-dense, unhealthy choices. This impacts long-term health and contributes to chronic disease. We seek to help our customers improve their employability and reduce healthcare costs through access to good food. The GRACE Garden Coordinator will supervise this position. Members will receive extensive training in community food systems and conservation district practices. We expect to begin rolling review of applications and interviews immediately. Monthly stipend amount: $2,438.
