Up2Us Sports New York Evaluation Associate

Established in 2010, Up2Us Sports is a national non-profit dedicated to inspiring youth to achieve their potential by providing them with coaches trained in positive youth development. The organization does this by identifying, training and supporting coaches who bring sports-based youth development to the most underserved communities. Up2Us Sports’ research, training and on-the-ground initiatives empower sports programs across the country to become a united force for meaningful change. To date, Up2Us Sports has reached over 300,000 youth by placing nearly 2,200 coaches in underserved urban communities. Up2Us Sports is headquartered in New York City with regional offices in Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Washington DC, and Seattle. We’re looking for an AmeriCorps VISTA member passionate about proving the important role sports, physical activity, and trained coach-mentors can have in the life of a youth. The VISTA will have the opportunity to define the direction and quality of data collection systems in the region. The VISTA member would also work with the national team to build an Alumni network. By building an alumni taskforce, the VISTA member will build sustainability in Up2Us Sports' ability to track success of their members and continue to see through their leadership in the community. This will also help Up2Us Sports collect and present data in workforce development and keep track of how coaches are applying their training and development beyond their year of service.

Member Duties : The VISTA at Up2Us Sports will be a part of the 2017-18 Up2Us Sports VISTA cohort of 25 members. The VISTA will be responsible for increasing programs’ capacity to administer fitness tests and surveys accurately. The VISTA will work closely with the national M&E team on strategy design and will have the opportunity to be creative. The VISTA will design and create bi-weekly qualitative data summaries to improve Up2Us Sports staff support of coaches and program staff. The VISTA will also identify key stories and quotes for use in marketing materials. In addition, the VISTA will help develop an alumni database, assist in building a taskforce of engaged alumni coaches to help build the program, create a social media page to organize alumni and keep them updated on events. This work will help Up2Us Sports keep track of members after their year of service by building a strong network.
