23-24 Mason Conservation District Education Coordinator
 
 
 
This is an AmeriCorps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Mason Conservation District's AmeriCorps member will create a cohesive approach to improving the quality of life for our community through a comprehensive education program; native plant promotion; volunteer taskforce development; and use of sustainable farming practices. The member will serve youth and adults providing hands-on activities, classroom instruction, service project opportunities and other outreach activities. This position will: Research, develop, and implement hands-on K-12 Field Investigations; Coordinate Small Farm Management Workshops; Pollinator Habitat Enhancement Program Development; Coordinate the Manure Exchange Program; Coordinate Native Plant Promotion Event[; Develop Education Resources; Assist with Shore Friendly Mason Program; Develop Volunteer Opportunities, Volunteer Outreach, Recruitment, and Recognition; Coordinate volunteer natural resource training for local at risk youth; Assist with Community Gardens and Food Security Programs.

Member Duties : Through a comprehensive education program; native plant promotion; volunteer taskforce development; and use of sustainable farming practices our AmeriCorps intervention will create a cohesive approach to improving the quality of life for our community. Our AmeriCorps member will serve youth and adults providing hands-on activities, classroom instruction, speakers forums, service projects and publications. The AmeriCorps member will support MCD staff with education/outreach activities to include developing informational flyers, web posts, sharing information about MCD events and resources. For example, the member may develop an invasive weed flyer to be given out by MCD staff at a site visit or they may make social media posts about public meetings or resource concerns.
