21-22 ACRS Youth Employment & Self Sufficiency Aide
 
 
 
Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled. ACRS’s Children, Youth, and Families Program includes the Integrated Youth Job Readiness Training Program which provides a high quality, culturally and linguistically appropriate job readiness training for immigrant and refugee youth ages 15 to 21 years old English Language Learners and their parents who meet low-income eligibilities. The out-of-school program utilizes lesson plans and curricula developed by the City of Seattle Human Services Department that is a family-based approach and coordinates with school-based services to help immigrant and refugee youth overcome multiple barriers to school success, obtaining wage jobs, and becoming self-sufficient. The program provides outreach and youth engagement, job training, paid group work project, job readiness skill building and career/post – secondary exploration activities, paid work training, bilingual/bicultural case management, bilingual/bicultural parent education classes, school engagement support and referral services. This position is contingent on funding.

Member Duties : Within the Children, Youth, and Families program the AmeriCorps Member will use lesson plans and curricula developed by the City of Seattle Human Services Department, learning and utilizing a family-based and school, and community-based approach when carrying out his/her duties. The Member will assist with the Integrated Youth Job Readiness Training Program. This includes helping immigrant and refugee ELL high school students with career planning and guiding their parents through financial literacy trainings. AmeriCorps Members in the WSC team will participate in regular team and agency meetings, and mandatory Washington Service Corps trainings. Regular and prompt attendance, cultural responsiveness and a passion for service will also be required. The Member will measure performance using economic opportunity targets, with a focus on improving financial literacy and financial knowledge and assisting individuals who seek jobs. Members will report their outcomes on a quarterly basis.
