Milestones – Family Engagement (MLC)

Milestones provides support to the early childhood community – families, child care, Head Start, school districts – and has a long history of advocating for and with early childhood professionals and the families they serve. In 2014, Milestones began working with Partner For Student Success (PFSS) a community-wide collaborative supporting all children from cradle to career. PFSS’s service area is communities in the Sartell/St Stephen, Sauk Rapids/Rice, and St. Cloud Area School Districts. As a Literacy Leader, you will join this collaborative to move forward work around Family Engagement. This project is targeted to families with children birth to five who are low income and/or members of communities of color. You will build a Family Engagement work group consisting of agency partners and families from targeted communities to promote literacy, support social/emotional health, and encourage family engagement. Our project provides the opportunity to develop relationships with a cross-sector of community partners serving families of young children in our targeted populations. You will work directly with members of the targeted populations in the facilitation of user friendly kits and delivery methods. You will develop resources with family input in order to increase true engagement. Our Literacy Leader will be supported through direct supervision from Marcia Schlattman from Milestones who facilitates the PFSS Early Learning Team. Literacy Leader will become familiar with a broad range of services around early childhood development in the greater St Cloud area and a variety of professional development opportunities will be available.
