Harvest Against Hunger VISTA Leader
***In order to be considered for this VISTA Leader position, you must have completed a full term of service as either an AmeriCorps, VISTA, NCCC, or Peace Corps volunteer (we will make an exception for volunteers whose service term ended early due to COVID-19 and completed at least 50% of their term of service). Harvest Against Hunger is a nonprofit, based in the Seattle area, that tackles food insecurity across the country. The Harvest VISTA Program places AmeriCorps members as local and national hunger relief agencies, where they create new opportunities for produce collection, volunteer recruitment, gleaning and gardening. By design, specific activities vary by location to meet community needs and available resources. Harvest VISTAs develop relationships with local growers, recruit new volunteers, build effective transportation networks and identify necessary resources to make these new programs successful and sustainable.Learn more at The Harvest VISTA Leader acts as a mentor for Harvest VISTAs and is responsible for coordinating the Harvest VISTA Program. There are currently host sites in five states across the county (WA, MA, GA, UT, and AZ). Your previous experience as a VISTA, AmeriCorps, NCCC, or Peace Corps member will give you empathy as you support the personal and professional development of Harvest VISTAs across the country.

Member Duties : The Harvest VISTA Leader will support the Program Director and site supervisors by recruiting full-time AmeriCorps VISTA members and Summer Associates throughout the year. The VISTA Leader will then provide training, resources, and support to all of the Harvest VISTA members. Communication will be an integral part of this position, given that the VISTA Leader is responsible for maintaining regular contact with Harvest VISTA members in five states. The VISTA Leader will also compile monthly, bi-annual, and annual reports for Harvest Against Hunger. This data will be used for program reporting and assessment. During their term of service, the VISTA Leader collaborates with Harvest VISTAs to create articles for the Harvest Against Hunger Produce Recovery Guide, write blog posts, and update social media platforms.
