Harvest Against Hunger VISTA Leader

***In order to be considered for this VISTA Leader position, you must have completed a full term of service as either an AmeriCorps, VISTA, NCCC, or Peace Corps volunteer (we will make an exception for volunteers whose service term ended early due to COVID-19 and completed at least 50% of their term of service). Based in the Seattle area, Harvest Against Hunger tackles food insecurity across the country. The Harvest VISTA Program places AmeriCorps members at local and national hunger relief agencies, where they create new opportunities for produce collection, volunteer recruitment, food systems innovation, gleaning and gardening. By design, specific activities vary by location to meet community needs and available resources. Harvest VISTAs develop relationships with local growers, recruit new volunteers, build effective transportation networks and identify necessary resources to make these new programs successful and sustainable. The incoming Harvest VISTA Leader, alongside the existing VISTA leader, will act as a mentor for Harvest VISTAs and be responsible for coordinating the Harvest VISTA Program. There are currently host sites in six states across the county (WA, MA, GA, UT, VT, and AZ). Your previous experience as a VISTA, AmeriCorps, NCCC, or Peace Corps member will give you empathy as you support the personal and professional development of Harvest VISTAs across the country.
