Cross Community Development Project Elder Support
 
 
 
The Laguna Community Foundation intends to build a cross-tribe AmeriCorps*VISTA structure to support organizational capacity building, community engagement, leadership development, assessment and community responsive evaluation, and heightened civic engagement. LCF intends to serve as the managing organization for recruiting, orienting, and monitoring the national service efforts of six VISTA volunteers across four tribal communities. The proposed team of ten AmeriCorps*VISTA volunteers can support linkages within and across each of these communities in one or more of the following areas: Youth, Elder Support, Education, Culture, Health and Wellness and Environment.

Member Duties : The VISTA volunteer will help build the capacity of the K’waika Senior Center to accommodate an increase number of elder participants in a safe and healthy environment where any person who is mobile and needs minimal assistance from the community can participate in special programs designed for elders and have a nutritious meal. The VISTA will collect information, analyze the data, increase enrollment of males, engage participants in activities and compile and update resources.
