'20- VISTA Leader for United Way of Thurston County

United Way of Thurston County's (UWTC) VISTA Leader supports our team's 20 VISTA members and their host sites during their year of service by facilitating team-building activities and team meetings, developing professional development trainings, and coordinating service projects. Our VISTA Leader engages VISTA members and provides ongoing support and mentoring to enable members to successfully complete and enjoy their term of service. The VISTA Leader will also build capacity for UWTC's VISTA program by enhancing the program's recruitment strategies, improving host site training practices, increasing the team’s presence on social media, and promoting VISTA impact to stakeholders. Serving as the UWTC VISTA Leader brings you into direct contact with many local organizations and leaders, as well as connecting to UWTC's network that has been built during the 80 years it has been a part of the Thurston County community. Our VISTA grant covers six additional counties, including Pierce, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, and Clallam County. VISTA Leaders must have served one full term of full-time service in AmeriCorps or Peace Corps. Being an active listener, compassionate, team oriented, flexible and supportive of VISTA and UWTC's core values is essential to success. Other desired skills include conflict resolution, leadership, writing/editing, recruitment, self-motivated, and strong organizational and communication skills. UWTC is located in Olympia, home of the state capitol, where you will find numerous outdoor activities, a charming downtown, and an engaged community.
