PSP VISTA: The Family Place Utah
 
 
 
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at The Family Place Utah in Cache County, UT. The VISTA members will be placed in one of the below areas. Applicant instructions: on your resume/cover letter/motivational statement, please indicate if you would like to be considered for the advancement position, education position, or both positions/no preference. Advancement: The overall goals of this VISTA placement are to increase funding for The Family Place and reduce poverty by helping families access services offered at The Family Place. To reach these goals, the VISTA member will work in the organization's Advancement Department in implementing a volunteer system and providing support for The Family Place's many events and family-friendly activities. The VISTA member will collaborate with The Family Place's volunteer coordinator and other Advancement team personnel to ensure events are strategically planned, meet fundraising goals, and extensively assessed and documented in order to ensure funding security and awareness of services for years to come. Education: The overall goal is to contribute to organizational development and capacity building by collaborating with The Family Place’s staff to provide programs and enhance program engagement and access for community members to ultimately alleviate poverty for them. Programs will be developed and improved upon. This will be accomplished by developing and implementing various educational and interpersonal strategies. All AmeriCorps VISTA positions are full-time for one year, as mandated by the Corporation for National and Community service. Successful completion of a one-year service term qualifies all VISTA members for either an education award of $6895 or a cash stipend of $1800 (direct deposit).

Member Duties : Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Advancement: -Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to secure volunteers for events. -Collaborate with the Advancement team to plan and implement events to raise funds or raise awareness. -Collaborate with the Advancement team to secure donations to support events and programs at The Family Place. Education: -Contribute to the ongoing development of the “Parent’s Place Podcast". -Collaborate with the Education Department Director to improve upon systems and programs provided by the organization’s education department. -Collaborate with organization staff to improve upon programs as a whole and maintain ongoing engagement of community members.
