PSP VISTA: The Family Place Utah
 
 
 
This full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position is hosted by the Public & School Partnership and is based at The Family Place Utah in Logan, UT. The VISTA members will be placed in one of the below areas. Applicant instructions: on your resume/cover letter, please indicate if you would like to be considered for the marketing position, education position, or both positions/no preference. Education: The VISTA member will contribute to organizational development and capacity building by collaborating with The Family Place’s staff to provide programs and enhancing program engagement and access for community members. Specific programs that will be developed and improved upon include parenting, stepfamily, couples and children’s classes as well as the Parent’s Place Podcast which is listened to worldwide. This will be accomplished by developing and implementing various educational and interpersonal strategies. Advancement: The VISTA member will assist The Family Place in increasing funding through donations and grants with the ultimate goal of helping disadvantaged families access services offered at The Family Place. These educational and interpersonal strategies support services are offered as workshops, family and student classes, behavioral therapy, school readiness classes, a crisis/respite nursery, and an emergency children’s shelter.

Member Duties : Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Education: 1. Contribute to ongoing development and coordination of the “Parent’s Place Podcast” 2. Collaborate with the Education Department Director to improve upon systems and programs provided by the organization’s education department 3. Collaborate with organization staff to improve upon programs as a whole and maintain ongoing engagement of community members Advancement: 1. Assist the grant writer in performing functions related to securing and maintaining grant funds 2. Research and pilot new marketing/fundraising projects and/or support existing projects that increase community awareness and attract donations for The Family Place programs and services (i.e. build the organization's capacity for programs)
