North MS VISTA Project - Summer Associates
The North Mississippi VISTA Project at the University of Mississippi seeks dynamic individuals to serve as VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) Summer Associates. VISTA Summer Associates serve throughout North Mississippi to fight poverty at various sites supporting programs in prevention of summer learning loss for students from Title I / SIG schools and promote access to healthy food among underserved youth and communities. Each of these eight-week direct service summer positions is supported by AmeriCorps with a modest living allowance and an education award or cash stipend. Pending final funding approval, successful candidates will begin service May 22, 2023.

Member Duties : VISTA Summer Associates will do one of the following: deliver new mathematics and literacy curriculum to children in grades 2-7; provide mentoring, enrichment, and purposeful play to children in grades K-5; monitor and encourage attendance at summer learning programs; promote summer learning programs on social media; deliver programs in science, physical fitness, and reading to children at risk of summer learning loss; promote access to healthy food among underserved youth and communities.
