Famicos Community Wellness VISTA 2021
 
 
 
Founded in 1967, Famicos Foundation is the community development corporation (CDC) in Cleveland, providing services and programs in multiple neighborhoods. Famicos is one of the largest affordable housing providers on Cleveland's east side and the leader of the neighborhood revitalization in the city. The AmeriCorps Vista will work the Purpose Built Communities Initiative, which focuses on one school in the Glenville neighborhood. The model encompasses health and wellness, affordable housing, and education. The Vista will develop a strategy to connect Famicos Foundation with residents to improve their educational path, employment potential, entrepreneurship, and life expectancy. Member Duties : The VISTA will help the Famicos Foundation's Community Engagement team develop engagement strategies to connect with residents moving into the 30 new affordable properties in Glenville Neighborhood, connecting them to health and wellness activities, the school and welcoming them to the community and grant writing to curate the Purpose Built Communities Initiative in the Glenville neighborhood. Facilitate community conversations focusing on education, employment, and health and wellness to identify resident's barriers in these areas.
