The Minneapolis Health Department (MHD) is the public health department for the City of Minneapolis. It is responsible for guiding the City’s holistic, comprehensive approach for preventing youth violence. The related project areas the VISTA will support are: (1) Hospital-based youth violence intervention programming (HBVIP). (2) Blueprint Approved Capacity Building Institute. The initiative works with grassroots youth-serving providers, focusing on increasing organizational capacity and training on best practices for youth violence prevention and service delivery. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation of youth violence intervention programs. MHD’s and University of Minnesota’s project supporting a social-emotional learning curriculum in schools. ***This project is part of the College Health Corps (CHC) VISTA Program. The CHC increases low-income individuals’ access to health care, health education, and food and nutrition through capacity building projects, including partnerships between higher education and community based organizations. Professional development focuses on health equity, the social determinants of health, and effective partnership development. ***Interviews will be scheduled as applications are received.
