Alaska Health Fair – Partnerships Coord (Anchorage)

AHF is a non-profit, established in 1980, with the goal of promoting health and wellness, and providing Alaskans with affordable and comprehensive preventative health screenings and test. Specifically AHF performs: health fairs throughout the State of Alaska, they offer free or low-cost health and safety education, and preventative screening to the public through a community volunteer program to improve health and welfare for Alaskans, train volunteer coordinators in communities who are capable of providing health fairs, provide health and well-being knowledge and skills to the public to stimulate a public attitude and appreciation of personal health, coordinate with agencies, individuals, associations, corporations, and others to obtain materials, supplies, and other support necessary to carry out health fairs and bring affordable care and health screening to all parts of Alaska. This position will build sustainable ways for Alaska Health Fair, Inc. (AHF) to have health fairs in different locations throughout Alaska. As time moves, technology has become an asset for non-profit organizations. However, non-profit organizations need the guidance of how to construct a database, and show impact of their events on the community, and to its funders. Data has become a need, rather than a want. As local and state organizations become aware of the AHF services and their impact via concrete and tangible data elements, i.e. array of health indicators; we hope this will promote partnerships with AHF. The more partnerships, community support and secured grants the greater amount of people will have access the health care. AHF's give access to health care for people experiencing poverty and helps alleviate the finical burdens that go along with health maintenance such as traveling to doctors. By measuring the impact of AHF this will allow for them to help more people in positive ways as well as have more health fairs.

Member Duties : The Community Partnerships Coordinator will help in developing a database of health indicators for all those who attend an AHF event. The coordinator will also develop systems to help the organization inform community partners on health indicators within their community and the direct effect of AHF on the community, increasing access to health care, thus preventing poverty from high costs in healthcare. The coordinator will also develop and implement performance measures or evaluation goals with the guidance of the executive director and the Board for a successful business plan. The coordinator will help measure the impact of AHF events on the community, by using health indicators and developing a working database with various arrays, each array representing a chronic disease. The coordinator can use the guidance of the State of Alaska’s evaluation team when needed, in the creation of the Database of health indicators.
