Volunteer Development VISTA: Gateway Greening (STLM)

Gateway Greening is a St. Louis non-profit that has spent over 32 years educating and empowering people to strengthen their communities through gardening and urban agriculture. We support a network of over 240 community and youth gardens, and a downtown urban farm. Gateway Greening isn’t just about gardens and plants. It’s about working together to create something beautiful — safer, more colorful neighborhoods for our children; access to healthy food and opportunities for building employment and life skills; and a city that embodies our vision of sustainability and hope. Gateway Greening is a community of gardeners, students, neighbors, friends and volunteers. Each year, approximately 3,500 group volunteers and 300 individual volunteers provide a total of 20,000 hours of service uniting neighborhoods across the St. Louis region. The Volunteer Development VISTA will build community awareness through the promotion of Gateway Greening volunteer opportunities while strengthening internal capacity and the quality of volunteer and garden service supports.
