Member Duties : Members who serve with the Flint Urban Safety Corps work with residents from the target area to create block clubs, community patrol groups, tenant organizations, business associations and other community organizations. Members also board up vacant and open properties, assist in creating safe pathways for students traveling to and from school and implement crime prevention strategies among other tasks. Members work in conjunction with community organizations including community development corporations, church groups, police precincts, student organizations and others to promote collaboration in problem solving for the target area. In addition, members are responsible for planning and executing a number of both small and large scale events that support and further the Program’s mission; these events range anywhere from neighborhood block parties to signature service projects.
