UACE Gila County Family, Consumer and Health Science
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps Program Assistant will help with the marketing, prep, implementation and evaluation of Gila County extension programs (including parenting, financial literacy, early screenings and beyond). This position will assist in the preparation and implementation of multiple Family, Consumer and Health Sciences programs in Gila County. These programs may include parenting programs, financial literacy, mentorship programs and/or early screening/educational programs for children 0-5 in order to help them get ready for learning at their full capacity as they enter kindergarten. There are additional opportunities for assisting the FCHS Agent in working with child care providers and other entities, as well as assisting at outreach events. Any individual that is eager to give back to their community, is organized and willing to learn new things, should apply! Terms: some weekends & evenings, be able to travel to different areas of Gila County & possibly a couple overnight training opportunities outside of Gila County; lift 50 lbs; have reliable car & be eligible to drive an Extension vehicle (no extreme tickets or more than 8 points on license; had license for longer than 2 yrs); feel comfortable working on a computer alone, working with individuals of extremely diverse backgrounds, & working with children; follow through on commitments; great attitude; & be willing to learn. Part-time position.

Member Duties : Create comprehensive community resource guides; Maintain & enhance Facebook, Instagram, Twitter social media outlets; Help prepare for programs which may include preparing incentives, materials, & supplies; Maintain & update files & evaluations associated with any programs or screenings; Assist in creating, preparing & teaching activities, course material & linking all activities to learning; providing child care at programs or events; Attend outreach and community events to recruit and inform families about FCHS programs; assist in early screening events in the areas of vision, hearing & developmental screenings in order to promote exemplary possibilities for learning; Ensure all activities & interactions with parents & children are reflective of UACE policies including Positive Guidance techniques; Attend & represent UACE at community events.
