Humboldt State University: STEM Student Support Advocate
Are you interested in supporting inclusive student success by providing hands-on, community-based opportunities such as internships or Service Learning? Interested in expanding your own experience in creating and evaluating new programs, particularly regarding 3rd year STEM students? We are hiring a STEM Student Success Advocate. Our center’s Student Support Coordinator (a former STEM VISTA!) manages a program that assists students with best practices, reporting, and community connections. Our Faculty and Community Partner Support Programs support faculty and community partners to improve the student experience. This role is part of the CSU STEM VISTA program. As a member of this cohort, you will take part in a learning community of VISTAs across the California State University system. Our one-year program is designed to promote your growth professionally and personally as you create and enhance programs for STEM students. All projects within CSU STEM VISTA are focused on eliminating race, class, and gender disparities in STEM undergraduate graduation rates. You will be trained to utilize sustainable, asset-based approaches that engage students of color, students from low-income communities, and students who are first in their family to attend college.
