Agraria BIPOC Farming Initiative VISTA

Agraria seeks to expand its partnerships in the region to educate people about the importance of soil health to a healthy food system and increase access to fresh, healthy foods. By engaging farmers, community residents and other stakeholders we will work to build and strengthen the farm-to-table network by increasing access points for fresh local foods; facilitating linkages between producers and consumers; providing for a broader range of local foods that reflect cultural and community needs; and expanding local, food-related educational, entrepreneurial and employment opportunities. This project will deepen and widen the scope of local food initiatives, solidifying the foundation for a resilient regional food system, fostering food security in the region, increasing the sense of agency among community residents and overall regional resilience. Agraria is dedicated to investing in beginning and underserved farmers who are Black, Indigenous and People of Color in supporting and sustaining a robust regional food system, and providing education to farmers around regenerative agriculture practices, food production, food security, and food system economics.
