22-23 Palouse CD Education & Outreach Technician
The Palouse Conservation District's mission is to foster the voluntary conservation of natural resources by providing the tools, education, technical expertise, and financial assistance to support our local community. The Palouse Conservation District is actively seeking an Education and Outreach Technician AmeriCorps member who will serve directly with our Education and Outreach Department to deliver environmental educational services to our local community in schools and outdoor settings and help implement conservation practices with local volunteer groups and students. The three main goals of this position are to educate and raise community awareness on the importance of stewardship behaviors and conservation practices that influence water quality, and the impacts of point and non-point source pollution; to engage the public in natural resource concerns through outreach initiatives; and to coordinate volunteer participation.

Member Duties : Members will primarily serve alongside the Education and Outreach Departmental staff in classroom and in-formal education settings, as well as represent the District at outreach events at a project site or community event. The Education and Outreach Technician will increase the community impact of District programming by planning and delivering lessons for youth, coordinating educational opportunities, recruiting and managing volunteers, and contributing to communication and marketing materials. Member will also participate alongside other District staff and AmeriCorps members, supporting education and outreach efforts in Research and Monitoring and Resource Conservation, including service projects, conservation practice implementation, effectiveness monitoring, volunteer management, and professional development. Member will need to be available to serve in multiple outreach settings to a varied audience for extended periods of time.
