WV Campus Compact VISTA--Bridgemont Community and Technical
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps*VISTA will focus on three main goals during the term of service: To strengthen organizational and/or human capacity on low-income communities by engaging campus volunteers, To assist low income communities and organizations striving to address the causes and impacts of poverty through the acquisition and management of funding resources and creating methods to improve community service quality by campus volunteers at community organizations and to strengthen connections between low-income communities and existing organizations and agencies by working to deepen campus community partnerships with a special focus on partnerships that focus on the economic, health and education or revitalization of communities. Specific to Bridgemont Community and Technical College, the VISTA will collaborate with colleges and with communities to build capacity, sustainability, and partnerships for the Experience West Virginia initiative. The Experience West Virginia initiative is a unique educational program for families and friends of Boy Scouts during the 2013 National Jamboree, being hosted by colleges located in Southern West Virginia. The VISTA will help campuses and communities prepare for Experience West Virginia and the national Jamboree by developing partnerships, creating service opportunities for students, and providing training opportunities.
