Development Assistant - First Alaskans Institute (Anchorage)
 
 
 
First Alaskans Institute is a statewide Alaska Native non-profit organization focused on advancing Alaska Native peoples and communities, while ensuring that Alaska Natives have a leadership role in shaping decisions that impact our lives. We do this through a program approach that includes Leadership Development, the Alaska Native Policy Center, and Community Engagement. First Alaskans serves as a catalyst, convener, and collaborator on issues impacting Alaska Native people and our communities. The VISTA will expand our fund development and capacity building work in order to support the Alaska Native Policy Center, leadership development and community engagement initiatives of the organization. Upon completion of the VISTA's term, the organization will be able to successfully sustain the Alaska Native Policy Center, leadership development and community engagement initiatives. The VISTA will gain extensive experience in grant writing, event planning, and internal capacity building, while working with a dedicated team in a supportive environment. **Benefits include: Monthly living allowance ($1222), relocation costs ($0.34/mile up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550) for members moving 50+ miles, health benefits, child care assistance, training, and an Education Award ($5,775) or cash stipend ($1,500).

Member Duties : Job activities will include, but are not limited to: working on the development of a black-tie signature event and building the volunteer base; fundraising for the annual Elders & Youth Conference; increasing marketing and collateral materials for FAI; grant writing; and working on the sustainability model for the publication the First Alaskans Magazine.
