6 Month UCA - UCAN Resident Services Engagement & Youth

Serving in Roseburg, OR with the United Community Action Network (UCAN)'s Residence Services department, the AmeriCorps Resident Engagement & Youth Activity Leader will improve educational youth programs for residents and create emergency preparedness plans at UCAN properties. The primary objectives are to work with UCAN residents to create an individualized emergency preparedness plan for housing properties (50%) and to provide summer programming and educational activities to youth residents (35%). The Resident Engagement and Youth Activity Leader will work with residents to identify potential emergencies and how to continue regular on-site programing during times of crisis with the support of onsite residents. Member will be a lead for the Earth Connect Summer Day Camp and assist with camp planning and activity delivery. Past camp activities include; slacklining, water balloon fights, horseback riding, coloring, arts and crafts, helicopter observation. United Communities AmeriCorps (UCA) members engage in meaningful service that meets critical community needs throughout Southwest Oregon. UCA projects improve access to social services by bridging barriers to educational opportunities, mentoring, job skills development, employment resources, family stability, and having healthy futures. Our members engage clients in their dedicated service project, and then use their experience to recruit, retain, and support community volunteers in their project and host site. Our positions are a dynamic combination of serving in a dedicated project (85%) and engaging in civic and professional development opportunities, alongside our AmeriCorps cohort (15%).
