*Goodwill* - Youthlinks - Rockland, ME
Great Strides places members in rural Schools in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont in order to increase student engagement through targeted mentoring support. Stipended members will implement the Check & Connect mentoring program (a research-based intervention for academically disengaged K-12 students) in rural nonprofits and schools, while Education Award Only Members will implement Connect2Complete (a pilot program utilizing peer mentoring and service-learning) to engage low-income college students. AmeriCorps members will be responsible for increasing student academic engagement, ultimately increasing economic success. In addition, AmeriCorps members will leverage volunteers to engage in Check & Connect and Connect2Complete mentoring and in-school/afterschool service-learning, academic support, parental engagement, and enrichment interventions. Broadreach Family & Community Services is a private, nonprofit agency. Our programs and services have been making a positive difference in the lives of children and families since 1983. We believe that all children and families have basic rights, including: the right to early intervention and an appropriate education through the least restrictive means; the right to nutritional food, medical care, and safe and warm housing; and the right to love and be loved and to receive a fair chance at succeeding in life. We strive to uphold these rights for children and families. They deserve nothing less. Youthlinks provides fun, free after-school and summer programs to middle and high school aged youth in Mid-coast Maine. Programs emphasize volunteering, community connection and hands-on learning. Youthlinks' mission is to empower youth to commit to themselves and their community, broaden their horizons, and acquire healthy life skills through focused enrichment programs and meaningful volunteer opportunities.
