OASHF- Mid-Ohio Foodbank Garden Coordinator

Mid-Ohio Foodbank believes that no one in our community should go hungry. To help achieve this vision, our organization is dedicated to feeding hungry people by collecting and distributing food and grocery products, educating the community about hunger, advocating for hunger-relief programs, and collaborating with others who address basic human needs. We partner with more than 500 emergency feeding sites across central and eastern Ohio, including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, and after-school programs. Over the past 12 months, the Foodbank has distributed more than 40 million pounds of food and grocery products to their partner charities. Mid-Ohio Foodbank was founded in 1980 and is a member of Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief charity. For more information visit www.midohiofoodbank.org.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps member will work a part of the Mid-Ohio Foodbank Agency & Program Services teams to develop plan to plant and attend to on-site vegetable garden that compliments and enhances the organizations nutrition education programs and child hunger initiatives. Work with Master Gardeners from the Ohio State University Extension Program and Franklin Park Conservatory to assess current state of the onsite garden and prepare vegetable beds for the winter.to create a garden plan and planting schedule/activities that compliments the Foodbank's FY12 nutrition education and child hunger programs.
