AmeriCorps VIP: Jewish Family Service of San Diego

VIP Fellows will increase the number of volunteers providing needed services to children, youth and families who face economic hardship. Additionally, VIP Fellows will build capacity within the Placement Site volunteer program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful. As a VIP Fellow, you will be part of a team, working to coach and support a cadre of volunteers. Your primary role will be to develop the volunteer program at your site, bringing resources to the children and families the program serves. You will spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships. This position is an opportunity to develop and apply your leadership, community organizing, and youth work skills to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, youth, their families, and the local community. Jewish Family Service of San Diego, founded in 1918, is a premier social service agency with over 50 programs and services available to the entire community, regardless of religion or background. The agency serves all of San Diego County and takes pride in being one source for a lifetime of help. Services include emergency food and economic assistance, early childhood development, counseling, patient advocacy, refugee resettlement, senior services and centers, and much more. AmeriCorps VIP Fellows will strengthen the San Diego community with volunteer capacity building in eight different social service agencies. The VIP Fellows will facilitate placement sites with volunteer recruitment and volunteer infrastructure to ensure a successful volunteer program and, ultimately, serve more families and children who are impacted by the economy.
