Turning the Page Family Engagement Project: Child Mentoring

Family Engagement is fundamental to students' success, which is why it is the cornerstone of our work. Turning the Page provides parents with access to resources and information that support their role as the first educator of their children at home, advocates for their families in school, and leaders within their school community. Our work is comprised of four core program areas: Community Nights, Parent Leadership, Teacher Engagement, and Community Resource Development. • Community Nights are fun and interactive evenings that include parent workshops, child mentoring, book giveaways, and a family dinner. Community Nights help schools make stronger connections with their students' families and support parents as their children's most important teachers. • Parent Leadership programming provides extensive support and technical assistance to each of Turning the Page's partner school's parent leader organizations. • Community Resource Development includes organizing a series of learning experiences for families that leverage the resources of the community and connects parents to relevant local partners. These experiences include off-site Community Night trips, summer trips for families, and enriching community learning trips during the year.
