The Darrington Family Support and Resource Center (DFSRC) is dedicated to serving parents, children, individuals, and communities so they can achieve their highest potential. The Center accomplishes this goal through support in education, outreach, and healthy-option activities and events that build upon individual, family, and community strengths. Darrington is a town of fewer than 1,500 people beautifully situated in the foothills of the North Cascades about one hour northeast of Everett. The Skate Park VISTA will also be a part of Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOAWW)'s 12-member AmeriCorps VISTA Team. Member Duties : - Work with youth-driven Skate Park Committee and others to solicit and develop phased Skate Park design, including cost estimates for each stage - Assess and build community support for skate park project through a marketing campaign and attendance at Town Council and Community Coalition meetings - Develop local fundraisers and seek outside financial support, including grants, to begin to fund the Skate Park project - Recruit youth and promote youth leadership opportunities on the Skate Park Committee and Youth Council -Build other youth programs, including afterschool programs, life skills training, and Teen Nite, by creating programs and recruiting volunteers to implement them
