American Red Cross Together We Prepare - Flint
 
 
 
The mission of the AmeriCorps Together We Prepare (TWP) Program is to provide vital emergency assistance to victims and communities affected by disaster and to increase preparedness in the areas of greatest need before disasters strike by recruiting and supporting volunteers in Red Cross direct service activities, integrated community outreach and education. Goals of all AmeriCorps Together We Prepare members: 1. Act as part of a team to complete Together We Prepare goals and objectives • Be a part of the Preparedness Education team • Member of Disaster Action Team (DAT), responding to local emergencies such as single family fires, Members will be asked to participate in DAT responsibilities including giving on-call availability that will include some weekends and overnights (It is required for all members to notify any outside supervisors, i.e. professors and/or employers, that they have a commitment to AmeriCorps and may be required to respond on short notice) • Participating in community events that the American Red Cross is involved in • Participate in all team meetings, relevant trainings (American Red Cross and others,) and projects unless otherwise approved by site supervisor or program director 2. Completes TWP Member Hour/Activity reports • Members will submit timesheets every other week • Members will submit monthly reports on the last day of each month starting on Monthly reports will include, at a minimum, progress on number of PE presentations, number of DAT call responses, and number of volunteers recruited.
