Northeast Tri-County Health District/WA Health Found
 
 
 
This project will help the NE Tri County Health District engage the people and organizations of Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry Counties in assessing and improving community health with a focus on nutrition and physical activity. Building on the work of GetFit Colville, Rural Resources and others, the member will work with the health departments assessment coordinator, program manager and their partners to organize a health assessment and health education and promotion activities that attract wider community participation and create a sense of momentum. Additionally, Public Health Emergency Response activities will be integrated into the project activities to provide the member experience in both healthy communities and community-based emergency preparedness. The member will participate in community needs assessment. NETCHD will conduct community health assessments independently and in conjunction with Providence/Mount Carmel Hospital as part of their community assessments as required in the Affordable Care Act. Healthy Communities Initiative works to promote access to healthy foods and low cost physical activities to address chronic disease and the contributing factors of obesity. The site is the Colville office of Northeast Tri-county Health District. The candidate will work with members of the community health program within NETCHD, community partners such as Rural Resources, Colville Parks and Recreation, Colville Public Schools, Get Fit Colville, Washington State University Extension, and other community members.

Member Duties : The member will support and assist Northeast Tri-County Health District in assessment activities and implementation of strategies to improve the health of residents and visitors. Then, with the information and data collected will develop and promote science based interventions. Under the guidance of the program manager, the member will work with community partners and contacts to implement. Northeast Tri-County Health District is working with the Washington Health Foundation in trying to make Washington the Healthiest State in the Nation. Through this partnership the member will have the opportunity to work 1 on 1 with community members and promote the Health Home Concept. Building a Health Home is taking more control of your own health.
