Asset Bulding Corps (OMEN)-Portland Community Gardens

The Community Gardens Program works closely with our partner non-profit, Friends of Portland Community Gardens. Together, we partner with several other organizations and agencies in the region who are working on improving access to sustainable, healthy food. The proposed project will expand the capacity of the Community Gardens Program by assisting with (1) the building of new gardens in under-served areas of the city where access to community gardens is currently limited, which includes gardens located at schools, churches, etc. (2) strengthening partnerships to achieve our collective goals of improved access (3) creating new systems for engaging and informing the larger community, (4) exploring new ways to collaborate and leverage resources. We are seeking an Outreach and Development Coordinator who has strong oral and written communications skills. This position will be translating procedures and processes into written materials, developing content for outreach materials, and representing the program at special events and community meetings. The Outreach and Development Coordinator will also be technologically savvy and have experience with designing outreach materials, working with databases, using social media, and working with digital photography. We are seeking someone who will take the initiative to explore creative solutions that maximize efficiency and simplicity. The ideal candidate will work well independently and be comfortable managing multiple project timelines and deadlines. They will take a pro-active and collaborative approach to problem-solving and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
