Notre Dame AmeriCorps - Boulder

Notre Dame-AmeriCorps (NDA), believes that education is the fundamental tool in the struggle of the poor for human dignity, self-esteem, and self-determination. We seek to build community among our members, as well as the people with whom we work by reaching out across culture and class. NDA's site in Colorado is a partnership with the "I Have A Dream"® Foundation of Boulder County." The mission of the "I Have A Dream" program is to partner with youth and their families as they successfully navigate school, college, and career by providing a holistic academic, social, and emotional program from elementary school through college, along with postsecondary scholarship assistance. The “I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County was founded in 1990 and follows the national “I Have A Dream” model, which was established in Harlem, New York in 1981 by founder Eugene Lang. Click here for more information about the national "I Have A Dream" Foundation. Local Boulder philanthropists learned about this model and, motivated by the dismal 35% graduation rate for low-income youth in the area, launched the local affiliate as a 501(c)(3). The organization has sponsored 18 Dreamer Scholar Classes and provided more than 1,000 Dreamer Scholars with intensive support and wrap-around services, also reaching family members and guest participants to impact over 4,000 people in the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley School Districts (in Boulder, Lafayette, Longmont, and Carbon Valley). For more information about the "I Have A Dream"® Foundation of Boulder County, call 720-313-2674 and/or visit www.ihadboulder.org
