AmeriCorps Red Cross South Florida Preparedness & Response
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps South Florida Preparedness & Response Team is a program within the Emergency Services Department of the American Red Cross South Florida Region. The AmeriCorps program is made up of unique and diverse individuals committed to addressing our community critical needs in disaster preparation, prevention, and response to emergencies. With the help of our AmeriCorps team and volunteers your local Red Cross is ensuring quality service delivery with relation to disaster preparation, prevention & response. Our AmeriCorps program runs from January 1 through December 31. Full time members receive a living allowance of up to $11,800 while they serve, in addition to limited healthcare and childcare benefits if eligible. Upon successful completion, members are also eligible for an education award of up to $5,350 from the National Corporation of Community Service. All applicants must be at least 18 years old, high school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred, flexible schedule, and have a valid driver license. Applicants must be US citizens, US nationals, or legal permanent residents. The Red Cross values, promotes and manages diversity by providing programs that foster participation by persons with disabilities. Your Service Will Be... Members will conduct community and school based disaster preparedness presentations in the effort to increase disaster preparedness knowledge in diverse population. Members will respond to local disasters, as well as, possible national disasters, providing accurate emergency information and assistance to those affected.
