YouthBuild Alumni Engagement VISTA- Los Angeles

The LA Conservation Corps is the nation’s largest urban conservation corps and LA’s preeminent youth development organization. We exist because we are concerned that 1 in 5 of LA’s youth adults is both out of work and out of school, and that they see no path out of poverty. We give young people an opportunity to improve their circumstances while they heal their communities. Our programs equip these young people with life skills and work experience by employing them in a variety of conservation projects. Some of those projects include building parks, planting trees, refurbishing hiking trails and building community gardens. We also provide them with a high school education in our affiliated charter school. Our ultimate goal is to prepare LA’s forgotten youth for post-secondary education and living wage jobs, and to inspire them to change themselves, their communities and the world!
