2026 NeighborWorks + LTSC RS Capacity Building VISTA

Los Angeles faces a high cost of living and a significant need for affordable housing, making access to stable, affordable homes increasingly important for individuals and families. As LTSC expands its affordable housing portfolio, there is a growing need to strengthen Resident Services systems and capacity to ensure residents can access the resources and support needed to maintain housing stability. LTSC’s Resident Services department provides comprehensive support designed to promote resident stability and self-sufficiency. Through case management, employment readiness, childcare referrals, financial wellness programs, and other supportive services, residents are connected to resources that help them achieve greater stability. Proactive interventions also help prevent evictions and strengthen housing security for vulnerable families. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will serve a full year at LTSC, collaborating with the Resident Services team to develop sustainable systems and procedures that support the expansion of services across LTSC’s new housing projects. Key activities will include developing resident needs assessments, creating tools to evaluate service effectiveness, strengthening community partnership and referral infrastructure, and developing strategies to increase resident engagement and establishing volunteer recruitment and coordination systems, and creating sustainable systems for managing in-kind donation. By strengthening LTSC’s organizational capacity, the project will help create sustainable systems for delivering effective Resident Services as the organization grows. In the long term, these efforts will contribute to preventing evictions, promoting housing stability, and helping address the broader homelessness crisis in Los Angeles.
