VISTA Community Engagement Specialist

The Nebraska Afghan Community Center (NACC) was established by a group of former U.S. military interpreters to help and support newly arrived Afghan families with integration, education, and self-sufficiency efforts. NACC's mission is to create a unified, educated, and self-sufficient Afghan community in Nebraska. Located in Omaha, with an additional outreach facility in Lincoln, NACC brings together Afghans and non-Afghans through diverse cultural, educational, and community programs. The VISTA member will contribute to NACC's organizational capacity by developing a sustainable social media marketing and communications infrastructure that strengthens the Center's ability to reach community members, promote programs and services, engage volunteers and partners, and increase awareness of NACC's mission and impact. The VISTA's role will extend beyond producing individual social media posts. The Member will build the systems, processes, tools, templates, documentation, and organizational knowledge needed for NACC to continue effective marketing and outreach after VISTA support has ended. The VISTA member will establish a coordinated social media and digital outreach framework aligned with NACC's strategic marketing plan. This framework will enable NACC staff, volunteers, and future VISTA members to continue managing and expanding the Center's online presence using documented processes and reusable resources. The VISTA will develop a structured approach to creating and managing social media content that communicates NACC's programs, services, community Through this project, the VISTA member will help NACC transition from a primarily activity-based approach to social media toward a documented, coordinated, measurable, and sustainable marketing and outreach system. impact, cultural activities, educational opportunities, volunteer opportunities, partnerships, and success stories.
