Haven for Hope - Digital Navigation Corps (LitMN)

The Digital Literacy Program at Haven for Hope equips individuals experiencing homelessness on our 22-acre campus with the digital skills needed to access resources, pursue employment and build long-term stability. Grounded in trauma-informed principles, it serves adults with limited digital experience by providing patient, individualized support that strengthens confidence and self-sufficiency. Previous work or volunteer service with under-resourced populations and/or those experiencing homelessness is preferred. A commitment to Haven for Hope’s mission and principles of service delivery, including: Trauma Informed Practice; Person-centered planning; Patience; Flexibility; Listening skills; and Compassion for under-resourced individuals are important. Digital Navigation Corps is a program of Literacy Minnesota, an organization that connects people to transformative learning, sparks innovation in literacy and mobilizes change. Literacy Minnesota envisions a future where literacy eliminates injustices and strengthens communities. The literacy work that began 50 years ago in Minnesota is now nationwide, providing curriculum, classes, workshops and research to partners and learners. Digital Navigation Corps is Literacy Minnesota’s response to the digital skills gap that impacts communities across the country. Built on a longstanding tradition of service, and pioneering the newest resources in digital learning, Digital Navigation Corps addresses critical digital literacy needs by bringing Digital Navigators to work alongside community members who are striving to reach their professional goals. Digital Navigators will support community members through one-on-one mentorship, classroom-based instruction, & resource guide creation and referrals.

Member Duties : Digital Navigators will promote services through outreach at on-campus Orientations, events, and through referrals from case management, housing, employment, and clinical staff. They will use digital skills learning platforms from Accenture Corporation (Learning to Earning) and Essential Educations (Computer Essentials) for their one-on-one and classroom sessions. Both platforms have Facilitator support, instructors’ guides, tutorials and classroom material that can be customized to individualized needs.
