MCNCE VISTA- Food Pantry Development & Outreach Coordinator
 
 
 
The University of Montana, based in Missoula, MT, transforms lives by providing a high-quality and accessible education and by generating world-class research and creative scholarship in an exceptional place. ASUM Bear Necessities is the University of Montana's dedicated basic needs support office for students. ASUM Bear Necessities operates the UM Food Pantry, founded in 2019 to provide free food resources to students in need. The goal of this project is to build organizational capacity and strengthen programming for the UM Food Pantry by developing data collection and analysis systems, creating marketing and outreach strategies to increase student awareness of Food Pantry services and ASUM Bear Necessities, developing SNAP access and enrollment resources, and establishing coordination systems that integrate the main campus food pantry with satellite pantries at Missoula College and West Campus Montana Campus Network for Civic Engagement (MCNCE) serves as the intermediary for this project. MCNCE is a coalition of colleges and universities dedicated to fostering civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across Montana. Led by CEOs from participating institutions, MCNCE works to improve community life and educate students on civic and social responsibility, preparing them to be thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged leaders.

Member Duties : The Food Access & Outreach Coordinator will develop operational systems for the University of Montana Food Pantry, including inventory management, food ordering processes, and partnership coordination. The member will establish volunteer training programs and develop student leader initiatives to expand pantry capacity. The member will create outreach strategies across campus events, develop food drive frameworks, and establish coordination systems for satellite pantry locations at Missoula College and West Campus. The member will design data collection and analysis systems to track student food access trends and evaluate pantry effectiveness. Through these efforts, the member will build organizational capacity and create sustainable systems that strengthen food security programming at the University of Montana.
