Food Security VISTA-Brazos Hunger Solutions & Baylor

We will accomplish our vision through identifying and addressing gaps in our local food system, and by leading our community to develop systematic solutions that collaborate with compatible goal-oriented organizations within our area to alleviate hunger insecurity for families and individuals in Brazos County. We currently have three major hunger related programs, Eating Well is a SNAP, the Summer Nutritional and Education Program, and the annual Hunger Summit. The results of the VISTA project are to implement a lasting administrative framework within Brazos Hunger Solutions which increases coalition membership and visibility within the community, identify partnerships, and assists in long-term improvement in hunger response coordination. Our nonprofit will develop a more structured and sustainable model to address food insecurity in Brazos County that will improve efficiency and ensure that future staff and volunteers can expand the organization’s work, which, over time will support long-term financial stability and reduce reliance on limited monetary resources.
