AmeriCorps EXL-Santa Rosa
 
 
 
The goal of the AmeriCorps EXL program is to provide comprehensive support to students. All students at the school site benefit from the support of organized, collaborative games and conflict resolution during recess and lunch. Students in need of additional supports will be assessed and assigned targeted services in literacy or math tutoring and/or placed in a social emotional mentoring group.

Member Duties : Active Recess: Facilitate structured daily games/sports during the core day and after school to encourage positive student behaviors and build conflict resolution skills. Academic Tutoring: Lead daily 30-minute 1-on-1, pair, or small group literacy/math tutoring sessions at least 4 days a week for students below grade level. Implement lesson plans provided by teachers, curriculum, or self-created. Mentoring Services: Serve as a positive role model supporting skill development, relationship-building, and personal growth in the after-school program. Expanded Learning Support: Assist the COOL School after-school program during homework hours; lead physical, interpersonal, and enrichment activities. Support Spring Break and summer programs. Member Development: Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and local National Service events (including 2 mandatory weekend service days).
