AmeriCorps EXL Members serve within the Napa Expanded Learning (EXL) Program and/or the ACE After School Program to provide comprehensive academic, enrichment, and social-emotional support to students. All students at the school site benefit from organized, collaborative games and positive conflict resolution support during recess and lunch. Students identified as needing additional support may be assessed and assigned targeted literacy or math tutoring services and/or placed in a social-emotional mentoring group to help foster student success, connection, and overall well-being.

Member Duties : Active Recess: Facilitate structured games and sports during the core day and after school to encourage student participation, support positive behaviors, and build conflict resolution skills. Tutoring: Provide individualized and small-group academic support in reading, writing, and math. Collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom learning goals and boost student confidence. Mentoring: Support students needing extra help with personal growth, relationship-building, and skill development using provided curricula and tailored lesson plans. Expanded Learning & Enrichment: Serve as enrichment and engagement leaders in the COOL School after-school program. Lead a specific track (e.g., Arts, Sports, STEAM, Leadership, or Outdoor Ed) to deliver hands-on learning experiences. Partner with site staff to run exciting activities while receiving professional coaching. Continue to act as a positive role model across all school day and after-school settings.
