Membership & Engagement VISTA DC

Douglass CLT is nonprofit membership organization that creates and secures the lasting affordability of housing, local small business, and other public assets through community ownership of land and collective stewardship. Our goal is to prevent displacement, create community-held assets, and build capacity in individuals and families while ensuring that they have a say concerning their community. Within 5 years, the Douglass CLT aims to acquire land under 750 homes, providing excellent stewardship of the properties, and ensuing that the residents not only benefit from stable affordable housing (rental and home-ownership), but are part of the decision-making about what happens in their own communities. Our focus is on low-income residents in our community, who have not fully benefited from the economic prosperity of redevelopment in the city. The Douglass Community Land Trust Engagement VISTA volunteer will assist and increase capacity of the Engagement team efforts by developing strategies to increase memberships, community partners, member volunteer involvement and effective volunteer practices to support the goals in the organization. The VISTA volunteer will also assist to develop multidirectional communications that both solicit input from and report out to members, allied organizations, and the broader community. Ultimately, this position will bolster Douglass CLT's ability to secure lasting affordability and deliver quality stewardship for low-income residents of DC.
