Stewards VISTA:Hatfield and McCoy Experience TN Org Sys Y1

The Hatfield and McCoy Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing Appalachian heritage through cultural education, tourism, storytelling, and community engagement. Based in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, the organization connects visitors and local residents to the rich history, traditions, and culture of Appalachia through educational exhibits, public programs, special events, and volunteer opportunities that strengthen community connections and regional identity. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will build long-term organizational capacity by developing integrated systems that support volunteer engagement, educational outreach, community partnerships, and overall sustainability. Responsibilities may include designing standardized workflows for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention; creating systems to organize educational programming and outreach efforts; and developing tools for staff to use with community engagement initiatives, and partner relationships. The member may also support the creation of centralized planning tools, templates, databases, and tracking systems that streamline strategic planning, partnership development, and outreach activities. Through this work, the VISTA member will establish coordinated, sustainable organizational systems that improve efficiency, strengthen collaboration, and expand the Foundation’s long-term impact. Located near the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge offers a welcoming community, abundant outdoor recreation opportunities, affordable living options, and a vibrant tourism economy. Individuals interested in preserving Appalachian culture and strengthening community connections are encouraged to apply. For more information, contact Stewards Individual Placements.
