Volunteer & Community Engagement Capacity Builder

Operation Lifeline Inc. (OLI) is a veteran-led nonprofit building safe, affordable, and accessible housing while expanding workforce pathways for veterans and residents in need. OLI receives steady interest from individuals, churches, businesses, civic groups, schools, veteran organizations, and community partners who want to volunteer. At the same time, OLI has active housing rehabilitation, accessibility, community facility, outreach, and veteran support projects that can benefit from organized volunteer participation. The VISTA member will build the volunteer engagement infrastructure needed to turn community interest into structured service opportunities. The member will develop volunteer intake and matching systems, onboarding materials, communication templates, service-day planning tools, group volunteer models, corporate and faith-based engagement strategies, volunteer tracking methods, recognition practices, and sustainability procedures. The member will design and coordinate repeatable volunteer service event systems by creating calendars, checklists, role descriptions, event-day workflows, team captain models, and follow-up processes that allow OLI staff and volunteer leaders to engage volunteers safely and consistently. This capacity-building role will strengthen OLI affordable housing, accessibility, workforce development, and veteran support initiatives across Clay, Putnam, St. Johns, and Jacksonville. The VISTA member will not replace staff or perform construction labor. The member will build the systems and partnerships that allow OLI to engage volunteers consistently beyond the VISTA service year.
