ACE: Rotterdam Community Center - Community Coordinator
 
 
 
The Center for Academic Community Engagement at Siena University (ACE) recruits candidates from around the United States to serve with community-based organizations that work to alleviate poverty in the Capital District. You will have the opportunity to work on capacity-building projects in education, health care, the environment, housing, criminal justice, and/or economic development. You will make an impact with a non-profit organization and the Capital Region by coordinating volunteer-led projects, conducting research, writing grants, and facilitating outreach. Based on your skills and interests, you will be matched with an organization for the year. You will be managed on-site by a supervisor, mentored by 2 VISTA Leaders, and trained by an experienced VISTA team. You will attend a Pre-Service Orientation, an On-Site Orientation, and ongoing training for your personal and professional growth. Additionally, our cohort model provides community and support to help you make the most of your service year experience. We are celebrating fifteen years of success and have had over 200 VISTAs complete the program. Become an ACE AmeriCorps VISTA Member and be a part of something bigger than yourself! NOTE: OUR VISTAs DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS AND ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE SIENA UNIVERSITY GRADS.

Member Duties : Manage marketing and publicity for community events at the Rotterdam Community Center (RCC) to increase visibility and engagement. This may involve occasional evening or weekend hours. Support RCC leadership in daily facility and administrative operations to ensure organizational sustainability and efficiency. Liaise with Nutrition Security Programs by representing RCC at stakeholder meetings, coordinating volunteers, and managing the logistics of food procurement, deliveries, and distribution. Lead the monthly mobile food distribution site in partnership with Mohonasen Central School District to streamline service delivery. Cultivate strategic relationships with local schools and organizations to expand the RCC’s mission-aligned network. Conduct ground research and attend community meetings to identify service gaps and evaluate stakeholder needs. Collaborate with RCC leadership to develop new community programming informed by research and community needs data.
