Tillamook County Preparedness & Resilience Engagement VISTA
 
 
 
This position joins Oregon Health Authority’s statewide AmeriCorps VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and support from VISTA team leaders and project director. Tillamook County Community Health Center (TCCHC) is grounded in its mission to promote and protect the health of all people in Tillamook County. TCCHC offers comprehensive health and integrated public health and environmental health services. This integration aims to eliminate barriers to health and provide holistic, quality care to residents of Tillamook County. Tillamook County Wellness is a program of TCCHC and is a locally led coalition of organizations working together to improve community health. Tillamook County is a rural community located along the breathtaking northern Oregon Coast from Pacific City up to Manzanita. There are many outdoor activities available, including hiking, fishing, crabbing, camping and of course exploring the many beaches. To be successful in this position, we are seeking someone who: • Is interested in community health and communications and supporting low-income communities • Enjoys building collaborative partnerships and working in a team environment • Preferably has some experience or interest in learning about website and social media management and communications. The OHA AmeriCorps VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a prepared and capable workforce to strengthen our work in Oregon communities. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will improve community readiness to identify, respond to, and recover from environmental health and emergency hazards: ·Develop community engagement strategies, preparedness communication materials, and information-sharing tools; ·Develop resource guides, outreach materials, planning tools, and referral/resource information for staff or partner use, rather than directly connecting individuals to services or providing individualized navigation. · Identify education opportunities and develop educational resources, training resources, and partner planning tools to improve emergency preparedness and reduce environmental health hazards. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve Oregonians through indirect service and capacity building, meaning the work you will do is the behind-the-scenes work. You will have limited interaction with the community. *In-Person Role* Applicants should be independent, motivated, and have strong writing and intercultural communication skills.
