26-27 Community Collaboration VISTA - Wheeling, WV

This VISTA project aims to strengthen the long-term capacity of the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center (CCNC) to address unmet community needs through strategic outreach, partnerships, and sustainable program development. The project focuses on building a more coordinated and accessible network of services by fostering collaboration between CCNC and key stakeholders, including recovery organizations, faith-based institutions, schools, youth-serving programs, and social service agencies. The VISTA will expand community outreach to increase awareness of CCNC services and identify needs related to addiction, food insecurity, and social isolation. They will build partnerships, develop tools such as a centralized partner directory and referral systems, and improve coordination between organizations. In collaboration with partners, the VISTA will support the design and expansion of programs such as recovery support connections, food security initiatives, and community engagement opportunities. The VISTA will also develop structured systems and processes, including outreach tracking, partnership management, referral protocols, and resource guides, to enhance efficiency and ensure sustainability. They will implement data tracking and evaluation methods to measure outcomes and inform continuous improvement. VISTA activities are focused on capacity building and indirect service, including: • Facilitating partnerships rather than providing services directly • Developing systems, programs, and structures to support the community • Strengthening collaboration between agencies to improve overall service delivery This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. Members will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty. These efforts improve coordination, expand access, and strengthen long-term community outcomes for families.
