2026-2027 LTSC Resident Services Development VISTA

The AmeriCorps VISTA member will serve a full year of service at LTSC and collaborate with the Resident Services staff. The VISTA member will be supporting one of our core missions to serve children and families specifically the Mi CASA (Community, Academics, Sports, Arts) youth services. As part of the Mi CASA programs, students currently enrolled come from historically underserved communities, LTSC’s affordable housing buildings in the Little Tokyo, Skid Row and Temple/Beaudry neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The VISTA member will be positioned to increase organizational outreach and engagement efforts with families experiencing homelessness. The Skid Row neighborhood, home to a dense population of individuals and families experiencing homelessness, neighbors Little Tokyo. Therefore, we understand that there is a need to also provide youth in the community with supportive learning and development opportunities. For unhoused families or families living paycheck to paycheck, paying for extracurricular activities including after-school programs or sports club fees, can be challenging, if not impossible. The VISTA member will support the development of procedures and systems to increase awareness of Mi CASA program and strengthen its presence in the community as a leader in youth development programs. Ultimately, strengthening organizational outreach systems and community awareness of Mi CASA programming. This translates to more community children taking advantage of sports and arts activities and more avenues for funding opportunities to continue to keep services free.
