26-27 Girls on the Run Operations & Systems VISTA

Girls on the Run of the Bay Area (GOTRBA) is a nonprofit that inspires girls in grades 3–8 to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Each year, we serve over 2,000 girls across five Bay Area counties through after-school programs that build critical life skills like confidence, teamwork, and goal-setting—all culminating in a celebratory 5K. We provide sliding-scale fees, offer programs in under resourced communities, and aim to ensure every girl has the opportunity to participate regardless of financial or geographic barriers. The Operations & Systems VISTA will play a key role in strengthening Girls on the Run Bay Area’s internal infrastructure by improving operational systems, optimizing tools like Pinwheel, and implementing project management and data tracking processes that support program growth. This role blends systems-building, technology, and strategy, with opportunities to develop sustainable workflows, enhance organizational efficiency, and support data-informed decision-making. The VISTA will also help expand GOTRBA’s community presence by developing and implementing outreach systems and partnership strategies that connect more schools, organizations, and local partners to our mission. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and excited about building systems that make a lasting impact. If you enjoy problem-solving, working across teams, and creating solutions that help organizations grow, this is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations and capacity building while supporting youth development across the Bay Area. As a VISTA member, you’ll work with a small, passionate team and leave behind sustainable systems and tools that will continue to support program expansion and access for years to come.

Member Duties : The VISTA will be part of the 26-27 Coach Across America national VISTA cohort of 64 members. A key focus will be implementing a project management tool (such as Asana or a similar platform) to improve staff collaboration and task tracking, including tracking grant deliverables. The VISTA will also support the optimization of the organization’s CRM and donor management system, Pinwheel, to improve data organization and internal communication systems. This includes developing workflows, templates, and documentation, as well as exploring new features that enhance its functionality. A core component of the role will be developing data systems that support program growth and school partnerships. The VISTA will build tools within Pinwheel to track school relationships, program sites, and outreach efforts, and will create dashboards to support data-informed decision-making.
