26-27 South Bronx United Development Associate VISTA

South Bronx United (SBU) uses soccer as a tool for social change aiming to help youth build character, teamwork, and leadership so that they can succeed in high school, college, careers, their community, and beyond. South Bronx United strives to promote educational achievement, health and wellness, and character development through activities on and off the soccer field. Since starting in 2009 as a fully volunteer organization, SBU has consistently broadened its reach and deepened its impact with youth by leveraging the passion that community and youth have for soccer to improve educational and life outcomes. Today, the organization serves more than 1,900 girls and boys on the soccer field and in the classroom, with programs operating year-round that combine academic enrichment and tutoring, college prep, mentoring, leadership activities, health and wellness programming, and other individual and family supports with soccer programming. SBU is seeking an enthusiastic and caring individual with a passion for youth and community development to serve as a Development Associate through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. The Development Associate will assist in crucial capacity building efforts that will enable the organization to continue to grow its size and impact. The individual in this role must be a strong communicator, organized and detail oriented, and passionate about the mission and community. VISTAs will also have the opportunity to learn about the field of nonprofit fundraising and pursue interests in different departments of the organization.
